Socio-Political Activities

I regularly attended various community forums and actively participated in debates and discussions on local TV channels. My aim was to educate people about the policies and viewpoints of the Labour Party while representing their interests to the best of my abilities.

Engagement with Somali Community:

During my campaign, I had the privilege of engaging with the Somali community, where I took on the role of an educator, encouraging them to oppose Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and empowering women to participate in local politics and the Labour Party.

To better understand the concerns of the Somali community, I attended various forums, where I listened intently to the voices of the people. As a representative of the Labour Party, I wanted to ensure that their concerns were being heard and that their voices were being taken into account.

One particular issue that I focused on was the exclusion of Somali youth from schools. Through my engagement with the community, I was able to identify the root causes of this problem and suggest viable solutions that would benefit everyone involved.

My interactions with the Somali community were just one example of my dedication to serving the people. As a political candidate, my ultimate goal was to make a positive impact on the lives of everyone in my community. I believe that by working together, we can create a brighter future for all.

Forced Marriages:

I spoke and shared experiences and insights on Venus TV regarding the issue of forced marriages. This practice has had a devastating impact on numerous communities, particularly those of Pakistani and Bangladeshi origins.

During my appearance, I informed the viewers about the actions taken by the Labour party to protect vulnerable individuals. Our party introduced the Forced Marriage Act, which paved the way for the creation of the Forced Marriage Unit (FMU). The unit was specifically designed to tackle the issue of forced marriages and provide assistance to victims.

Furthermore, we granted special powers to courts to issue forced marriage orders against those who perpetrate this heinous practice. This initiative was a crucial step in ensuring that victims of forced marriages were given the legal protection they needed to escape such a situation.

It is vital that we continue to prioritise the protection of vulnerable individuals, and I am proud to have been part of a party that took decisive action on this matter. I remain committed to promoting and advancing the rights of those who are most at risk.

Save our Hospitals Campaign:

I have actively campaigned for the ‘Save Our Hospitals’ movement, with the objective of challenging the proposed closure of local hospital services by the Tory-led government. Through my efforts, I have endeavoured to safeguard the healthcare needs of the local community, with a deep-seated belief that healthcare is a fundamental right of every resident of Ealing.

HS2 Campaign:

I was actively involved in the HS2 (High Speed Rail 2) campaign, where I worked tirelessly to lobby HS2 Ltd and the coalition government to secure tunnelling under Ealing and Northolt. My dedication and commitment to this cause were driven by my unwavering belief in the importance of sustainable infrastructure and transportation.

Throughout my involvement in the HS2 campaign, I demonstrated exceptional leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders from various sectors. My strategic approach to lobbying and advocacy was informed by my deep understanding of the political landscape and my ability to leverage relationships to effect positive change.

As a result of my efforts, we were able to secure the tunnelling under Ealing and Northolt, thereby preserving the integrity of the local environment and mitigating the potential negative impact on the community.

Perivale Library.

I had the honour of standing up for my constituents by advocating for the preservation of our local library. It was a critical issue that was close to the hearts of many residents in my ward, and I knew that I had to take a firm stance on it.

Through tireless efforts, I helped secure a significant sum of £400,000 from Ealing council to transform the outdated and bleak library into a vibrant and dynamic hub of learning that would cater to the needs of the local communities. It was not an easy feat, but an unwavering dedication to the cause and my commitment to the betterment of the community were the driving forces that kept me going.

As a result of my efforts, the local library has undergone a remarkable transformation. It is now a modern and bright centre of learning that has positively impacted the lives of countless individuals in the community. I am proud to have played a pivotal role in this transformation, and I am confident that it will continue to serve as a beacon of knowledge and enlightenment for generations to come.

Ward Projects: During my two tenure, I delivered several improvement and development projects in Cleveland and Perivale wards in Ealing North.

  1. I promoted community cohesion, peace, and harmony, and I supported the idea of regular local community events after the successful Diamond Jubilee street parties, one of which was funded by the Perivale ward forum.
  2. I also promoted and supported youth projects and engagements to encourage their involvement in healthy and creative activities, which helped to keep them away from Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB).
  3. I played a pivotal role in resolving the complex, ongoing issues related to Highways, such as road resurfacing, Bilton Road HGV vibration, and the traffic congestion was unwavering.
  4. One of my top priorities was reducing the overall crime rate in Perivale, and I achieved this by closely working with the Safer Communities and Perivale Safe Neighbourhood Team (SNT) Police. Together, we tackled and reduced crime rates and introduced a Controlled Drinking Zone (CDZ) in Bilton Road and surrounding areas to combat ASB.

Experience in Ealing Council:

I had the great privilege of working with Ealing Council, and it was an experience that I will not forget. Throughout my tenure, I had the opportunity to witness first-hand how the decisions made at the highest levels of government can have a profound impact on the daily lives of ordinary citizens. Unfortunately, during my time on the Ealing council, we faced the harsh reality of budget cuts enforced by the Tory-led government.

While it was a painful and unpleasant experience to deal with the consequences of these cuts, I remained committed to my duties, and my dedication to serving the residents of the wards never wavered. I served on several committees from May 2010, and it was during this time that I saw how the decisions taken at the top level can affect various services, making it difficult for men, women, and children across the country.

The creative side of Me:

One aspect of my background that I am proud to highlight was my dedication to vlogging. Through this platform, I was able to produce several informative videos on the recent ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, which garnered a significant following.

Furthermore, my passion for writing enabled me to contribute articles in both English and Urdu languages that addressed social and cultural issues faced by various communities living in Britain. These articles were featured in reputable local papers and magazines, allowing me to raise awareness on pertinent matters affecting society.

Through my vlogging and writing, I was able to establish myself as a knowledgeable and influential voice within my community. This experience has equipped me with the necessary communication and advocacy skills needed to effectively engage with constituents and tackle complex issues that require innovative solutions.

My Vision:

I dream of a socially cohesive Great British Nation, where diversity is celebrated and assimilated with a unified interest. My dream is to create a society that rewards its citizens with equal rights and privileges for their contributions and sacrifices.

I firmly believe in a country that offers equal opportunities and access to work for all, without any discrimination or marginalisation based on race or religion. I envision a society where women are respected and given equal opportunities to excel in their chosen fields, with dignity and pride. I am committed to working tirelessly towards achieving this vision, advocating for policies and initiatives that promote social cohesion, diversity, and equality for all.

My Mission

It is not uncommon to hear individuals assert that all politicians are the same and share a similar trait – a lack of genuine concern for their constituents. However, it is imperative to challenge this pervasive perception and highlight the presence of dedicated politicians who are attentive to the needs of their constituents and work tirelessly towards achieving their objectives.

It is a disheartening reality that some politicians have failed to earn the trust and faith of their constituents due to their unaccountable actions. Yet, it is unfair to tarnish all politicians with the same brush, as there are individuals who are sincerely committed to serving the people and their interests.

It is my utmost desire is to embody a profound commitment to effecting tangible and lasting positive changes within communities. I am fervently dedicated to hearing and heeding the voices of constituents, recognising their unique concerns, and passionately pursuing the realisation of their needs and aspirations.

I firmly believe that a successful political career hinges upon one’s ability to serve the people with unwavering diligence and determination. Therefore, I am resolutely committed to establishing a reputation as a proactive, responsive, and empathetic representative, one who tirelessly works towards making a meaningful difference in the lives of those I serve.
